A culinary, or food, tour is typically all about the food. However, a great culinary host is what makes a tour a true experience. A host’s knowledge of the city, its food, its culture, and its history brings an intrinsic flavor to the tour along with sincere authenticity. Our hosts live in Juneau year-round and they dine at the restaurants guests will visits.
Juneau Food Tours takes great pride in our hosts. They were chosen for their keen insight into the city and their fun energy. Because a food tour is a personal experience, we thought it would be fun to introduce our team to you. Each week we will highlight a new team member so that you can get to know the Juneau Food Tours family.
This first week it seems fitting to introduce Midgii Moore, the owner of Juneau Food Tours. She is originally from Georgia, but has lived in Juneau for 10 years. “I moved here with my husband and when I arrived, I knew that I had come home.”
Midgi has made her mark in Juneau by writing a food blog, www.mealswithmidgi.com, and writing a food column for the Capital City Weekly, which is distributed throughout Southeast Alaska. She now spends her time researching ways to share the deliciousness of Alaska.
“I absolutely love Juneau and I have an incredible passion for food. I thought it would be fun to combine the two into an opportunity to share with visitors. I wanted more than a sight-seeing tour. What’s more fun than eating your way through a city?” Midgi’s inside track and knowledge of the food scene in Juneau is demonstrated in her enthusiasm and humor as she hosts her tour groups. Oh, and be sure to ask her how she got the nickname Midgi — it’s a fun story too!
Our goal is to ensure all guests have a great time and by the end of the tour, you’ve made a new friend.
